New Mexico currently has a New Mexico Public Health Emergency Order to reduce the spread of the COVID-19 virus. In order to mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus and in following guidance by the CDC regarding social distancing, New Mexico Tech is temporarily suspending all residential First Responder Courses effective Monday, March 16 through August 21. NMT/EMRTC will work to reschedule affected training as quickly as possible and provide additional information as it becomes available.

The HME course is designed for all levels of first responders who may encounter or respond to a homemade explosives incident. This course presents information on the safe response to homemade explosive pre-detonation and post-detonation incidents.

Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents (UPSBI)
The UPSBI course provides first responders with response information on school bomb threats and school bombing incidents.

Medical Preparedness and Response to Bombing Incidents (MPRBI)
The MPRBI course prepares first responders involved in the medical response to bombing incidents with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively respond to the unique injuries of a bombing incident while considering existing hazards related to such an event.

Each State Point of Contact (SPOC) is responsible for coordinating Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) training. An applicant's SPOC must review and approve his/her application for the Operational Level course before being submitted to the New Mexico Tech Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (NMT/EMRTC).
