Sandia National Laboratories |
EMRTC is currently involved in three important programs with Sandia National Laboratories, each of which is highly visible and has produced interesting results:
- Foam Tests - Used in developing shock absorbing materials to allow military vehicles such as tanks to go over land mines and in beach applications to facilitate the landing of equipment in river or ocean beaches protected by land mines.
- Mars Tests - Used to simulate the Mars conditions to be encountered by surface penetrating devices designed to look for sub-surface water on Mars.
- Evaluation of Japanese Moon Probe - Used to measure water moisture in lunar soil.
EMRTC will continue to develop co-operative activities with Sandia in the areas of robotics applications to mine detection, counter-terrorist research training, and computer simulations of explosives test conditions on materials.
