Glass beads and ice used for impact experiment.

Dr. Ryan of NMT's MRO (Magdalena Ridge Observatory) was at EMRTC for some testing: "Impact experiments using simulated asteroids composed of glass beads and ice to study post-collision fragment sizes and speeds in an effort to better numerically simulate the physical parameters that influence outcome. The objective is to devise mitigation strategies if a hazardous asteroid or comet is found to be on a collision course with the Earth."
