The Sunport Blvd. exit lane from the Albuquerque International Airport leads directly to Interstate 25 (I-25). Once on I-25, continue driving south for 75 miles until you reach Exit 152 near Escondida. This exit leads directly to EMRTC and is open during normal business hours.
To go through Socorro, NM to EMRTC use Exit 150 (labeled "New Mexico Tech"). This exit puts you on California Street. Most of Socorro's motels, restaurants, and gas stations are located on this street.
Continue south on California Street until you reach the second stoplight, which is located at Bullock Street (the intersection is flanked on the right (north) side by a Taco Bell and on the left (south) (a Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC)). Turn right (west) on Bullock Street. Continue driving down Bullock Street, passing two intersections with four-way stop signs. You should be at the New Mexico Tech Campus. Continue driving straight on Bullock Street, which curves to the left (south) and becomes Olive Lane. You will come to a four way stop. Turn right (west) at the four way stop on to Canyon Road and continue driving past the golf course. Continue on this road past the campus police station until you reach large downward hill. After you reach the bottom of this hill you will see a road branching off to the right (north); turn onto this road. The EMRTC Business Complex is the large building on top of the hill.
After leaving El Paso International Airport, follow the signs to I-10. Drive west on I-10 toward Las Cruces until you see signs for I-25. Enter I-25 and drive north toward Albuquerque.
Drive North on I-25 for approximately 147 miles. Take Exit 147 to enter Socorro. Drive north on California Street (The main road through Socorro on which most of the restaurants and lodging are located).
Continue driving North on California to the fifth traffic light at Bullock Ave (a Kentucky Fried Chicken and a Taco Bell are located at this intersection). Turn left on Bullock. As you travel west on Bullock, you will cross two intersection stops. The first is at El Camino Real, and then Leroy Place just before entering the New Mexico Tech Campus. Continue driving on Bullock as it curves southward. You will pass, on your right, the National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) building and Macey Center. You will soon intersect Canyon Road. Turn right at the stop sign and proceed west past the golf course and the NMT physical Plant. Just beyond the NMT Physical Plant, the road declines for about fifty yards to an arroyo-like dip where it branches. Turn right and proceed north for about half a mile up the road toward the EMRTC building complex, which is now clearly visible up ahead. Inside, report to the Visitor Control station just inside the building. If you have problems or inquiries please call visitor control at (505) 835-5312 or NMT campus police at (505) 835-5434 Alternate Route: (Available only between 6:00am and 10:00pm) Exit the Interstate from exit 152 (the exit will also lead to the NM State Police) Turn right at the stop. The road will lead you over a bridge and through security gates that are open from 6:00am and 10:00pm. This road leads directly to the EMRTC complex.
